HEI info
I just got my new Accel distributor in the mail the other day. I openned up the cap to find that the spring (can't think of real name) that runs from the coil to the rotor didn't even come through the bottom of the cap. I take the dust cover and coil out of the top of the dist. and see that the spring is sitting on top of the pad under the coil. I thought that the spring should be under the pad so that it could make contact with the rotor. If not, how does the spark make it from the coil to the rotor?

It was probably shipped like that to protect it.
Put the rotor button with spring in the cap so that it extends out the bottom. Install the pad. The spring should protrude out the top of the pad. Install the coil.
