Jumping timing mark & oil gauge...Bad distributor?

Car: 1988 IROC Convertible
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: Auto
Jumping timing mark & oil gauge...Bad distributor?
Hello,
My oil pressure gauge and my timing mark both jump around like crazy. I've read the oil pressure needle will do that when a bad connection is in the circuit. I don't know what would cause the timing mark to do this. I'm speculating that, since they both depend on the distributor in some way or another, that it may be the problem. Any thoughts?

Car: 95 E-150 & 07 Kawasaki ZX-6R
Engine: A slow one & a fast one
Transmission: A bad one & a good one
Axle/Gears: A weak one & a chained one
Are you checking your timing with the single-wire pigtail disconnected? If not, the computer is still advancing your timing and you're not seeing base timing, and that could explain the mark hopping around.

Actually, I'm just reading it, no adjustment yet because to get to the distributor bolt, I need an extension that my dad has right now

But are you reading it with the thing disconnected? If not, your timing reading will probably be about 10 degrees or so too high and it'll jump around by around 5 degrees, in my experience.
