Help in fixing/removing emissions equipment
Hi there,
I'm trying to decide whether or not to remove some of my emissions equipment. In order to make this decision I need some info. I'll be really grateful for any help you may be able to offer. This may turn out to be a long post so, be warned.
Basically, my car is erratic when being started. Sometimes it will just start quickly, sometimes it will sputter and then settle into a good idle, and sometimes it will crank for a while before it turn over and starts.
I've gotten codes 32, 34, and 44 in the past and tried just about everything that my factory manual says to try. I'm almost sure my starting problems are due to my emissions equipment. I need to know if I can somehow fix my diverter valve. If not, I'm removing AIR equipment.
I'm almost sure my egr valve is bad. I want to try to clean it or replace it. However, my other option is to just remove egr as well. Problem is I don't know that much about what egr does, how it works and what it will do to my emissions if I remove it. Also, if I decide to remove it, exactly what needs to go.
Thanks for your help.
