This sucks
My car all of a sudden has a kiss of death. It was running great then all of a sudden it feels like its running on 4cyl. (Its an 8cyl)
I've checked the spark plugs/wires, distributer, choke, timing and fuel filter. Everything was fine. Then I started it up and lo and behold I hear a cling cling cling... I put my hand on the drivers side valve cover and you can feel it knocking. What can I do to fix it (besides get a new engine)??? Its an LG4 P.S. Could it be the camshaft and lifters wore out??

Take off the driver's side valve cover and see if there's anything loose. Sounds like it could be a loose rocker issue.

Yep, one cylinder can make a small block really sick. Look for a rocker arm not working right and go from there.

I know this sounds too simple, but check your oil level and oil color for other problems, a chocolate milk color is very bad. I would not start it up again untill you find out whats wrong. Hopefully the noise is something loose under the valve cover and not an engine problem.
