Power windows wont go down
I already did a search and Im not sure if my problem would be related to any other problems posted on this board since I didn't read any problems that were similar. Anyway, I cannot get my drivers side window to go down. About 3 weeks ago it was down and I put the window up, and that same instant I tried to put it down again and nothing happend. I thought maybe it was a bad switch. I didn't really look into it until today so I swapped out the drivers side switch with the passenger switch because I know that one works. Nothing happend. I swapped the passenger with the driver side switch and that window went up and down, so I know the switch is good. I'm not sure if it is the motor or not since it doesn't make any noises or anything. Also, it seems like it's not getting any power at all. When I use the passenger window switch the dome light will go a little dim while the window motor is running. Even if the window is all the way up and you push up on the switch it will go a little dim. When you do this with the driver side it doesn't go dim at all so it would seem the motor is not getting any power at all. None of the wires at the switch connectors look frayed or loose so I am at a loss of why the window would go out at the very instance I put the window up. I guess it could just be a coincidence that the motor went bad. I dont think it would be the fuse or circuit breaker since the passenger side works fine. Better in the up position than down I guess. Any suggestions? I have been reading that switching out a motor is a real PITA. I'm hoping it's nothing major.

check your fuse, it's free, and if you cant tell, it's a 50 cent fuse. Start small After that, take off your door panel and make sure it's not grounding out somewhere before it gets to the motor.

Power windows run off a circuit breaker. Both windows are on the same ciruit. So, if one works, and one does not, and the switch is good, you either have a wiring problem, or a bad motor.
The wiring at the point where it goes from the body into the door is the usual culprit. The wires are forced to bend there every time you open/close the door. They fatigue, and break. Check there first. If those wire are good, check to make sure you are getting good power/ground to the window motor. (yep, take the door apart) If you are, replace the motor. If not, look for a problem with the wiring.
Good luck. Most likely, the motor died. You might be able to open the door, push down lightly on the window, and hit the switch, but, there is the possibility that the window will go down, and stay down........

Mine stopped working, so I took off the door panel, and smacked the motor with a hammer (no, I'm serious) while pressing the button. The reason I did this was to knock the crud inside the motor loose. Dirt gets in the grease, and it makes for a poor connection. It's been working fine for over a year after that. Like checking the fuse, this repair is also free.

Re: Power windows wont go down
I am having a similar issue,
I have just bought the car and when I went to put the drivers window down after closing the door the window wouldn't move, well I opened the door all the way up and the window works fine. So I closed the door and again the window wouldn't move, open the door all they way and it works. I am at a loss as to what is going on. I did try the passenger control when the drivers door is closed and the passenger window works fine. its only the drivers window that I am struggling with. and I am a smoker so its killing me to have to open my door at red lights to roll the window up or down. also kind of embarrassing can anyone help me out please

Check the wiring in the door jamb, from the A pillar to the door shell. Unfortunately, the interior of the door will probably have to be removed to access the wiring you need at the motor connector.
