P/S Pulley Install

What is the thread dimension for the inside of the P/S pump pully shaft? This is the thread used for the installation of the pulley. IOW, thread a stud into the P/S shaft to push/press the pulley on.

In particular this is for an '85 LG4 Camaro.

These threads get rusty and I can't tell what size they are. Need to run a tap down it in order to get a stud in there. Of course need to get a threaded stud of the correct dimension too.

Thanks,

RBob.

Use a nut and washer on the bolt/stud ...let the nut do the work while holding on to the bolt and pulley...

It is definately 3/8 x 16 NC thread.

Go to Auto Zone and rent their PS pulley puller/installer. It has an installation tool with a bearing on it and makes putting the pulley on a real breeze. You just pay a deposit for the tool, then get it all back when you return it.
