Compression Test Results
Hi,
What is the normal compression results for an L98? I got between 173 & 191 (most were in the 180-185 range) and this is dry, with no oil squirt in the cylinder.
The car burns a LOT of oil and runs like crap below 2500 rpm...it has other issues, but I am trying to narrow down the mechnical issues.
Thanks,

Within reason...that is true. But I am trying to remember what normal should be...the numbers should be around the area that I got, right?
I mean that if I had gotten numbers in the 120 area, that wouldn't be right?
TIA,

Really? For an L98? I had thought that 120 range would be low for an L98...based on my searches here on thirdgen...

The actual raw number depends on a number of factors; the temperature of the castings, the cam, and lots of other stuff.
I'd say the numbers you have are fairly typical.

OK...that makes sense...I have built a few engines in my short life, not all rebuilds of my 406 either
But it has been a while since I have done a lot of engine diagnostic work like this...so thanks for the heads up!
