hi, put some new sr torquer 305 heads on my z28 and now i have coolant leak out of the last header bolt on the driver side. wondering if anyone had this problem or heard of this problem with these heads. summit sending new one out monday.

I've only worked on one set of Torquer 305/SR heads, so I'm not sure, but it sounds like a defect in the eastern castings.

Definately sounds like a casting flaw. I installed the same heads recently and didn't have any issue with them.

Sounds like the header bolt hole was drilled maybe a smidge too deep and broke into the water jacket. Drain the coolant, dry it out in there the best you can (blow out with compressed air and let air-dry for a few hours). Put some RTV on the threads of the header bolt, install it and torque it down. Problem solved.

Or if you're REALLY into a big job and lots of time shipping parts back and forth, return it for a replacement head.

thanks for the replys ,looks like drilled to deep so i am going to try to seal it just that way. took it over to friend that help put the motor together he said the same thing,and the leak has almost sealed it self.

I'm partial to permatex no. 2 rather than rtv.

I'd be on the phone getting a new head shipped. Seal yours and ship it back when the new one arrives.

Is that the red anaerobic stuff? From what I hear, that stuff is great.

I'd definetly get ahold of world or the place you got the heads from and try to get a new one. A defective part is a defective part...I wouldn't run it any longer like that because they could somehow say you voided the warranty. World or a supplier definetly owes you a new head.

Get a new one comming, don't (but you already have) screw with it so they can see what they did wrong so as to avoid doing it again. Why would you try and fix it? I would be pissed and either get a replacment or get my money back!
