Will Perf. RPM fit under the stock hood?

I just got my car back from an engine swap (305 to 350, yeah baby!). Originally I got a Performer RPM Intake manifold, but between it and the carb adapter, I couldn't get the hood to close with an air cleaner on it, not even a drop base. I am planning to get a new carb and intake as well as a distributor to rip the computer out of my car. I was wondering if the RPM topped with a perf. carb and drop base filter will fit under the stock hood? It was so close that I think it might. Anyone running a similar setup with a stock hood?

I doubt it. I had a low profile intake and a Holley on my small block. A 2" tall air cleaner was all that could fit under the hood. The Performer RPM intake is tall. Reguardless of what carb you happen to use, you will not have enough room. You're going to have to install a cowl or hood scoop if you want it all to fit.

Yeah it will fit. I have a 14x3 inch filter setup w/ a 1 1/2 inch drop base on top of my holley 750. Fits under the stock Z hood just barely. Not sure how well it flows air w/ the inside top of the lid so close to the choke tower. I just recently got a K&N Xtream lid that I think helps that...

I ended up going with the cowl hood on my 84 to keep the performer rpm. I've heard of some people being able to use a drop base, but it wouldn't fit on mine.

I'm running a performer RPM with a Holley 600cfm carb and the LG4 single snorkel air cleaner. It barely fits under my hood. I can't measure it, but my guess is that the stud for the air cleaner wing nut isn't more than 1/8" below the hood.

I had one with a carter, and a 14"x3" drop base aircleaner sitting under the hood of my TA, there was about 3/4" clearance at the front of the aircleaner.

Too bad edelbrocks QC sucks, otherwise it would have stayed there.

My friend has a 350 with a Perfomer RPM intake and 600 Edelbrock carb and it fits fine under his stock hood with his drop base cleaner!! He even has a spacer too because he was too cheap to buy the banjo fitting for the fuel line...LOL!!

I have a Performer RPM, Holley 600, 3/4 inch nitrous plate and a 14" drop base aircleaner on my 84 TA. Just fits.
