EGR disconnected
I just realized that when my SuperRam was put back to together the vacuum hose to the EGR was never reconnected
I assume this would cause a huge vacuum leak and be a primary reason why I have a surge at idle. Would that be correct?

Sounds right to me. But idle surges aren't always the fault of a vacuum leak, etc. I have a nasty idle surge that I can't get rid of. It's just a thing the cam likes to do. Only way to correct the problem is to up the idle.

vaccum leak will cause a high idle as it is more unmanaged air getting into the engine. and if the egr was unpluged it would not cause that big of a leak as it is a small line going to it and in most cases is controled by a sol. which is controlled by the ECM

That is a good point, but you'd be surprised what a small leak can do. I had a tiny manifold leak from a fitting for a sensor my motor doesn't have that wasn't plugged, and the car surged until I plugged it, when it immediately stopped and the idle smoothed out. My idle actually dropped by about 50 rpms and got lopey with the vacuum leak. Plugging it raised and steadied the idle.
I suspect your surge is partially that vacuum leak but again, it might be the cam.
