Hard Rock Article ???

Anyone know when and what mag the Hard Rock article came out of?

I ran across an old October 1994 Popular Hot Rodding mag with "Clean & Mean" by Dave Emmanuel. Compared to the Hard Rock article,,, let's say the dyno power listing is very close,, and while most of the components remain the same - exactly the same EXCEPT,, the stated heads are 190 AFR and the cam is a TPiS "blue-print" L98 cam. It states the engine was built by RHS and was run on their and Hypertech's Dyno - 1987 Z,,, same wheels, tires, gears. Hmmmmm - it's quoted as running a 12.54 @108.91..

So,, I guess this could be the prototype for the Hard Rock. I don’t know. I’m not so sure what the odds are there could be two different engines built by two different people, run on different dynos, using different heads and cam,,, and have average HP over a 31 point rpm range within 1 horsepower.

A few years ago, definately. If I think of it I'll search my room

Or wait, Hot Rod has their archives online, I think it's http://www.hotrodarchives.com ? Maybe you could do a search there? It's supposed to let you order the actual articles (for cash), but I think it'd let you search for free.

Anyone know for sure if it was Hot Rod that published the "Hard Rock" article. I know it's under 3rdgen articles,,, I just want to know the date it was originally published.

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
I *think* it may have been in Super Chevy...I've subscribed to Hot Rod for years; but remember seeing those articles while browsing in a bookstore....

"This project originally appeared in Popular Hot Rodding magazine and serves as a blueprint for building exceptional performance."

This is directly from the article. It was originally done in PHR. No help with the dates though.....

Hmmm,,, I bet it's the same car. I wonder which heads and cam REALLY were on the car. Probably the AFR and the "bigger" cam.
