It could be a rich or lean condition. I had the same problem and I was actually too rich, once I leaned it out with a afpr, I haven't had the problem since. If you think it's rich, find out to be sure, put a fp gauge on it and find out. We could tell you all day long it could be rich or lean, but you have to tell us your scenerio.
The simple fix is just to throw a afpr on it and adjust it to the right fp you need.

19 pounders came stock with 3.4 v6's...
I'd say the 30lbers are fine, Pressure should be in the 48-50PSI range with no vacuum on the FPR... after that, let ed fool with it.... your FP might be too low, causing the injectors to fire like crap...

Is this possibly your problem?
I had a motor do this when the cat convertor clogged up. If the cat is gone could something have stopped up your exhaust? Just trying to help.
