Will the Comp Cams 260 work with the CC Q-jet on LG4's?

^^ Topic.

Comp Cams 260:
int dur at .050": 212*
exh dur at .050": 212*
int lift: .440"
exh lift: .440"

Am I going to have any problems with the Q-Jet?

What rods and hangers and jetting settings should I use with this setup?

Anything else to worry about?

Is there a better cam for the money?

Gas milage is a consern, this will be my daily driver.

I would get the Comp Cams K-Kit. Comes with springs, retainers, lifters, locks, seals, timing set and lube. The Kit costs $254.75

I have the XE262 cam in my 350 (218/224 duration, .462/.469 lift) and it runs decently with the bone stock CCC. Of course, I am planning on tuning it, but if you bolt it and go it should work fine. Mine doesnt throw any codes, runs well, but its a 350 with headers and decent heads too. But as for being good for a 305, I cant help you there.

Wow, I didn't know about the split pattern version. I'd rather go with a split pattern. The LG4 heads need to breath.

Do you know if tha cam carries a CARB # in all 50 states?

I beleive that the XE cams are "not legal for sale or use on a poluution controlled motor vehicle". Oh well, what they dont know won't hurt them. I dont know yet if I can pass emmisions with it, but Ill worry about that later. I can always pay a shop to specially tune it to pass. That XE262 on my car gives it a bad *** idle, and I love the sound. But the low end leaves much to be desired (single plane intake and stock converter arent helping). The XE248 and 256 seems to be more popular on the 305 than the 262.

So would you say a 260 would be a better choice over a 268 comp cam. For a stock cc Q-jet I mean...

It will work fine. I have used a very similar Crane Cams 266 Energizer cam on a CC-Qjet engine and it ran great.

It will work fine. The valves will open and shut and everything.

However, the XE256 will produce more power, idle better, and use less gas. Chances are, it will idel close enough to stock, that they won't even ask you for the cam's CARB #.

The kit is the way to go.

You should be able to leave the carb alone as far as primary tuning goes; these can almost always stand some WOT tuning though.

How did this archaic topic manage to get revived?

Hey RB, I'm the guilty one(260 -search), I've got a 268 High energy on the way and I was just recommended a few days ago to go with the 260.

The 268 was borderline in a 350. It's definitely not going to be a good match for a305, especially if it has an auto trans. The 260 will still give you a soggy bottom end. The motor will feel much crisper with the XE256, and should produce the same or more power compared to the older design.

OMG this is an old post. I have since tuned my quadrajet and gotten a dual plane manifold.

Can they assume you have an aftermarket cam in your car? So your saying I cant just say it runs like crap or something when I take it through. Oh man am I scared of emmisions right now. The countdown begins for when its gotta pass again.
