Questions about Eaton O.E.M. Replacement Roller lifters

Im looking at the Eaton roller lifters to get for my new motor. Has anyone used them. I can gets some for 99.99 at Competitionproducts. And that beats the $200 price for the comp cams lifters. Are the Eaton Lifters good pieces?

they are really not intended for spring pressures in the 280lb and up range

.
But, I bet if you called them you would find they are backordered anyway.

I called comp products and they say there is a national shortage on lifters but they had some in stock. The cam im planning to run is the CC305 cam 220/230, .510,.510 w/ a 114lsa Do you see a problem there? The springs im running can handle .570" lift the description says
1.850-100lbs,
1,800-110lbs,
1.750-145lbs,
1.500-235lbs.,
1.250 335lbs.,
coilbind 1.150

I would not run those springs in my motor...

Stock SBC installed height is 1.750". No way a spring that coi-binds at .600" of lift is good to use at a lift up to .570". Sounds like K-motion or similar "little white lies" to me. Also, note that at .510" lift, you're at over 300 lbs of open pressure. You can fudge it a little bit by using the .050" offset keepers, but why do that instead of just getting some quality springs in the first place?

Well I dont really know what springs I should go with. Do you have any suggestions? is 300lbs of seat pressure at .510" too much? Sorry I dont understand much about springs

Call Comp and see what they say... they're the ones who will warranty the cam if you follow their recommendation, but won't warranty it when it gets eaten if you use the wrong ones...

My guess would be to use their new conical springs (983?) and the matching retainers. But it's just a guess.

Also, get rid of the stock stamped sheet-metal rockers, otherwise the valve train will only deliver about .475" of your .510" cam's lift. I'd recommend the Comp steel-bodied ones.

If you machine your heads for 1.45" springs, use 1.6 rockers.

RB83L69, you said he'd only see .475 of the .510 lift. Do you really think the stock stamped rockers deflect that much?

its not deflection.. its accuracy

stock rockers will rarely give a 1.5 ratio.
