Temp sensor
Where does the water temp sensor plug into? The driver said head? Because my water temp gauge is goin all crazy sayin i have 300 F then a minute later 100 F. I think the wire on this sensor that plugs into the drivers side head is all messed up and i think that is the water temp sensor im just not sure about it.

there should be a single wire blade connector on the sender in the driver's head. you can try unplugging the wire and grounding it while ignition is on, that should peg the gage at max because there is no resistance. if it doesn't peg the problem's in your gage, if it pegs then you need to test your sender. at 100F the resistance between the sender's connecter and ground should be i think 1.5kOhm and 55Ohm at 260F. i'll get the exact numbers when i'm at my own computer later.

ok, i thought that was the thermostat? What should I do with the one on the passenger side head? If my fan isnt coming on that menas either the driverside sensor isnt grounded or the passenger side sensor is messed up right?

alright, i found the part where the header singed the wire that runs to the sensor on the driver side head...i cut it off where it was singed at, and spliced a new wire to the sensor, but the fan is still not turning on. Could it be the stat in teh passenger side head?

...and the thermostat is in the middle. In the intake manifold, specifically, in the housing that is connected to the upper radiator hose. It is not an electrical device, and you have to remove the thermostat housing (catchy name) to get to it. Doesn't sound like that was your problem.
The fan sensor in the passenger side head is technically a switch - it's either open or closed. When cool, the switch is open and the fan is off. When hot, the switch closes, grounding the fan motor circuit (like Vader said), turning the fan on. That is typically in the 235-240 F range. The fan should also come on when the AC is turned on.
The gage sensor is a variable resistance device, as Vader's chart indicated.

alright, well ill replace the stat anyways since its coming in the mail...and...this fan sensor, could it be messed up? I was chanign out my spark plugs yesterday and some of the black tip on it chipped off. Could it jus tbe so old and worn that its nto working?
Also...235-240* F, isnt that a little too hot for th efan to be coming on? Usually whenever i turned the key in the ignition the fan would automatically come on, did someone prewire that so that when the ignition was turned the fan comes on?

if someone wired your fan to be always on then the switch in the head won't affect anything and yeah, if you pull it out while the engine is hot you'll burn yourself so make sure it's cool before you do.
