83 Z28 Crossfire Injectors Dripping
What’s going on everyone. Just recently acquired a 83 Z28 305 Crossfire. Supposedly 75,000 original miles on it. Anyway put new fuel pump in and started right up although it did run rough. I changed temp sensor, map sensor. Found a few air leaks and fixed those because I know these are sensitive to air leaks. It was running better but wanted to get it running smoother so decided to rebuild TBI’s. Plus they were filthy. I rebuilt the cross fire tbi’ twice. On the first go around I pinched the o ring for the injectors and one was leaking out of top. So I decided to redo them and made sure to use oil on the o rings and felt like they went back together better. I should mention before the rebuild the injectors seem to have a nice cone shape fuel spray. But now they still have a cone shape spray but they seem to drip a little. I did replace the fuel regulator diaphragm and accumulator diaphragm plus all the gaskets. So my question did I mess up the o rings again and that is causing the drip or did I mess up a injector. I have not drove it since and was wondering if I need to drive it so it will reset the iac. I was going to sync the TBI’s but not sure if I should get the injectors spraying right. I know this is a lot and I appreciate any help.

There's no point to synch-ing the throttle bodies until you get 'em spraying right.
If they worked OK before the "rebuild", it seems likely that the "rebuild" caused the current problem. However, coincidences do happen.
Connect a scan tool, verify idle speed and IAC counts, all the sensors especially coolant temp, TPS, and MAP. They have a big effect on fuel delivery. Verify fuel pressure, too.
After that, if you don't see problems with the data stream on the scan tool, you could try dumping a 20-oz bottle of Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner in the tank, and driving it. Otherwise, pull the injector(s) and see if you can spot the problem.

Like mentioned, no need to balance the TBs until you get them running properly first. You unfortunately got something wrong again. Lube the small o-ring and slip it onto the injector bottom, then install the injector. If it is only dripping from the bottom, the small o-ring is the issue or you just did not get it seated properly. Also, jus a FYI on the TB injector pods... Make sure you install the top thin o-ring properly and then the steel o-ring. The steel o-ring looks like it and can be installed on both sides, but there is only one correct way to install it, flat side down.(look closely at it and you will see) GL.

Thanks guys for the quick response. I’m going to check the fuel pressure tonight. I need to find a scan tool to check everything out. I did not know the metal o ring went a certain way I’m going to take it apart and make sure I get it right. I was thinking the small o ring was my problem again. Buccaneer on the rebuild instruction it says to put the metal o ring and then the rubber o ring on top in the housing.

Thanks Buccaneer for clearing that up. I definitely will check that out. Thanks South Bay if they keep dripping after this rebuild I will send them off to you. What does something like this cost if I we’re to send them to you.
