World 042750 heads

Got these off a running car for free.

They are 042750-1
*Heads use a 1.250 diameter spring. Seat pressure 100 lbs. @ 1.825

My car needs valve seals (gotten bad lately) and I'm starting to suspect might have a head gasket issue. The overflow is always almost empty and noticed many bubbles when filling the rad after a coolant flush. The oil is clean tho.

I've made the executive decision to keep this car as a cruiser/nice day daily so won't be spending any money on performance just maintenance.

My plan is to have these heads checked/cleaned up/freshened and just slap them on. Stock cam and rockers. Besides some minor tuning they should be good to go?

Thanks

Yes, have them overhauled and replace the springs if necessary. But now would be the perfect time to upgrade your camshaft. Those heads are already set up with screw-in studs and with an installed height of 1.825", there should be no problem running a valve lift of .500" or more. If you are comfortable enough to do it, smooth out the sharp edges left from the cutters under the valves in the bowl areas. Don't screw this up by choosing a too thick head gasket that will kill your quench. Shoot for .040-.045".
BTW, these heads have the large 1.94/1.50 valves (for a 305), but their stem locations are shifted so that valve shrouding to the bore is reduced.

I haven't ruled out the cam 100% (more like 80% lol) My plan was to run an LT1 cam if I do it. Also want to be able to tune it relatively easily. I've really just come to enjoy the car in it's anemic form lol.

I have an extra #049 GM L98 cam that would work great with your setup and easy to tune. Probably wouldn't even have to have one. PM me if you're interested.
