Guess who's coming back to the TBI fold....

Re: Guess who's coming back to the TBI fold....
So I picked it up tonight. I paid all of 1200 bucks for this beast. Only 145k on it and it runs smooth as silk. I do think the T5 might need a rebuild or it needs a new clutch as it like to make funny noises now and again. Other than that I'm very pleased with it. It does need a bath though lol

Man, you can't beat that. My first new car was a '91 RS L03/T5. Good times.

Wow! Finding a nice thirdgen in Ms is hard enough but a 5spd is almost impossible down here or I would own one. Great deal man .

Well I'm in the process of cleaning up the engine bay. I'll be picking up a set of 2460 headers from a buddy this weekend. Next up I'll either get another TBI manifold and port it or I'll be picking up an EGR performer manifold locally.

Awesome! Seems like the TBI forum has been slowly getting more active past 6months or so.

Thought I'd post another update. I picked up some Hooker 2460 shorties and the matching y pipe already modded for a 3 inch exhaust for $100 from a friend of mine. I need to blast the headers and paint them plus fix a couple missed weld leaks but I'm stoked. I'll either just run a 3 inch race bullet or nab another Hooker Aerochamber muffler.

Ok I thought it share some progress. It's all back together. I just have to tighten up a few things. Here's all I've done so far.
Rebuilt the rear end with a Yukon Duragrip posi carrier and 3:42 gears
Moog 5662 and CC635 springs with 1 full coil cut
KYB shocks and struts
ES 34mm and 21mm bushings and links
ES A arm bushings and brand new Moog K6145T ball joints
Full founders rear set up and adjustable torque arm
Full T5 rebuild with a brand new clutch
Hooker 2460's into a magnaflow cat and a full 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust, a 12 inch race bullet at the back end
50mm and cleaned up stick TBI manifold (just because lol)
Once I get everything broken in I'll be replacing the valve springs and I might throw in my stock Vortec cam.

Thinking of having my stock manifold ported to 46mm and running 46mm throttle body. Do you think that would be ok for a roughly 260-275 HP engine?

That looks good! Very good! What air cleaner is that it doesn't look like a drop base.

Very nice! I had to go back and check the exterior photo because I was SURE you couldn't get a filter element that tall under the hood. But there it is.
You told us you were using a stick intake in a natural finish. But what are those heads. Went back through the thread, I didn't see you mention what heads they are? They appear to be aluminum.
Original plan said 454 TBI. And I know you opened the intake up. So are you running the big block TBI?

"That looks good! Very good! What air cleaner is that it doesn't look like a drop base."
It's an air cleaner I made myself using two cut up lids. I'll take pics when I get home.

The heads are just the stock swirlies. I just painted them to help break up the black in the engine bay.
I'll be using a 454 TBI unit with the LT1/TBI hybrid engine I'm building.
