TBI extra injector drivers?

Hey Guys,
I haven't been on here in a long while.

I wanted to ask what the current best way is to drive 2 extra TBI injectors.
Does someone make an injector driver board, or is there a SSR that's fast enough?
I want to do 2xTBI's on a dual quad intake for my next project.

Thanks,
Ben.

That would be an interesting build to follow!

Re: TBI extra injector drivers?

You have my attention sir. The thought of a multiple TBI setup with the 2barrel TBs (not the single barrel crossfire TBs) has crossed my mind a few times. I would love to see someone pull this off, maybe if its not tooo difficult I'll attempt to follow in your footsteps when I get around to doing my 350 swap

Re: TBI extra injector drivers?

It's been discussed here many times in the 10+ years I've been reading this board and playing with TBI/CFI, but I don't recall anyone actually doing it..

A 2" BBC TBI will supply enough air/fuel for most small blocks, 2x2 on a 2x4 intake just looks cooler... Tripower even cooler again

Re: TBI extra injector drivers?

Tri-power would be bada$$, but thats probably why its never been done, a single TB would be way easier.

Re: TBI extra injector drivers?

I have considered fabricating an upper plenum for dual TBI numerous times for one of the leftover L31 Vortec lower manifolds I have hanging around. The manifold itself is very similar to crossfire and has massive runners compared to a crossfire. A small cap HEI EST distributor will also clear at the rear of the manifold. After all the vortec injector junk was removed out of the plenum and the manifold was ported out I feel it could easily flow 260+ CFM.

Yup...that would look pretty sweet.

Wonder how these guys make it work?

Re: TBI extra injector drivers?

My personal favorite TBI setup! Its a big block that came from the factory with dual 2" bore TBI units and a blower and has since been upgraded to an 8-71.

Woah! What "factory" did those come out of? What were they used for?

Well those are Mercury Marine 575 SCI engines. They came with a smaller blower, but have been retrofitted to 8-71s.

Fast

I looked at Vortec intake couple years ago for a possible 2x2 TBI setup. The bottom portion of Vortec intake does not offer too much plenum volume - it is not a bath tub shape like CF intake. Vortec intake plenum volume is in the upper portion of intake. I would have to start with 1-1/2" or thicker solid block of 6061 to machine an upside down tub to have decent intake plenum. Alternatively, a 2 piece solution consisting of a ring frame and tub top cover can be machined to achieve decent intake plenum. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to XYZ measurement and inspection system and CNC center. CAD design is 1/3 of the effort while measuring existing bottom portion of the intake and fabrication are the other 2/3... It does sound like a fun project!

^^ You nailed it, I had also thought of using a CNC aluminum upper plenum roughly 2-2.5" tall. I would have also machined a bit of a plenum divider into upper half as well to keep the banks somewhat seperate. Then I decided it was cheaper to just pick up a marine intake and go MPFI.
