Anyone know anything about AC "Alternate" part #s?
1988 T/A, L03. At 26 years old, I'm thinking a fuel filter would not be a bad thing to add to the to-do list on my largely all original car.
Rock Auto says AC GF652.

When I click on the blue INFO box, it offers several "alternate" part numbers, 2 of which look like SPO / production part numbers (25055052, 25171792), and an "alternate" AC number, AC GF481.

I'm just curious what the differences between GF652 and GF481 are. I know there are oil filters that will both fit, one with and one without a drain back valve, as an example. I'm wondering what the difference might be here.
Why is it important? Because I have a GF481 on the shelf, and I'd like to put it to work if it does NOT represent some sort of meaningful compromise.

Find an AC-Delco Filter catalog. The differences between those two filters MIGHT be listed if you read and compare the descriptions for the two items.
You already own it, and the filter on the vehicle is--apparently--ancient. I'd stuff that filter on right now. It's a fuel filter, not a marriage. You'll replace it again in a year or two, and that's plenty of time to figure out which filter is the "optimum" unit.

Re: Anyone know anything about AC "Alternate" part #s?
Thanks guys. I took it down off the shelf and tossed it into the "To-Do" parts box.
This is printed on the back of the package...AC says any Chevy L4-V6-V8 from 83-90.
And the owner manual calls for the GF481.
So there while there may have been some updating or comonization with the GF652, it looks like the 481 was the original number "back in the day". So we'll put her to work.
