5.7l 350 tbi surging/hunting at idle

So I have a 1992 with a Camaro 5.7l 350 from a truck I believe. So my problem is that my car surges at idle. most of the time it does but sometimes(rarely) it actually stays steady. Basicaly it will not stay steady it just idle up to 1500 then down to 500 untill it stalls or sometimes starts idleing smooth but rarely. I do not know what to do next... So far i have swapped and tried to set the iac, replaced the cts, and map sensor. I can not find any vaccum leaks but i feel if it did have a vac leak why would it sometimes run great and other times surge. If you haven't already guessed im stumped. I have done tons of searches and have so far been inconclusive. I will answer any questions and if I fix this problem I will post my solution to help others in the future

no surge at idle cold
warmed up example of surge
Outside sound of what car is doing
unknown connections under dash and example of car idling perfect after surging stops

will take more videos upon request I am just desperate for a solution to this problem
didnt get much help in tech/general questions so decided to post here

Just curious if you have 65#hr injector and have tuned for the conversion? Is the vss hooked up ?

thanks you finally some feedback!!!!
I do not know what kind of injectors i have will go check now though!
The speedometer does work though i get a code for it maybe its not hooked or bypassed some way I am not sure that would explain the code though.

You might look at the vss buffer, or the ecm pins. The signal splits off the buffer to go to the ecm and speedometer on 92 tbi.

Re: 5.7l 350 tbi surging/hunting at idle

Btw if the idle is to high for to long the code 24 will throw, the ecm thinks the car is moving and expects to see a vss signal. When the 24 hits the car will run like crud. If you do need to upgrade the injectors I. Have a customer I will put you in contact with that might want to purchase your old injectors. rockauto has a great price for tbi injectors. they are around $55 each from standard motor products.

Re: 5.7l 350 tbi surging/hunting at idle

no I haven't fixed it but the light goes away if i rev it or start driving and the code isn't there once the car warms up also I discovered that my iat sensor seemingly doesn't effect the car whatsoever also if i unhook it it doesn't even through a code. Also I have heard about real time monitoring of the ecu on a laptop I was wondering if you could recommend one. Also I really appreciate your help and input Tuned Performance your awesome.

Re: 5.7l 350 tbi surging/hunting at idle

I would get the extreme aldl cable from moates.net and download tuner pro rt from tunerpro.net. Your definition is $61 unless someone put the truck ecm in a 1227747 will swap right in . I haven't been getting notices on all the threads I subscribe to. Feel free to send me a personal message if you need any walk through help on datalogging or want me to view a log
Btw the most common vacuum leak on tbi is the tbi base gasket.

Re: 5.7l 350 tbi surging/hunting at idle

So it turns out I had the wrong injectors, wrong ecu, and a bad egr. replaced those idles perfect now. Big thumbs up to Tuned performance
