1) Hot air pipe - used in conjunction with stock air cleaner assembly to deliver warmer air to TB inlet. MIA (required in CA to pass visual equipment check)

2) Charcoal canister purge - used to burn off gas vapors accumulated in the gas tank to reduce unwanted HC emissions. Controlled by ECM and does not rob any power from the engine.

I think you are referring to a vacuum purge line. TB on LO3 usually has 4 front vacuum ports. The purge canister vacuum line goes from one the two front center ports (IRC the larger of the two ports is used for PVC valve - 3/8" line). OE used hard PVC vacuum tubing, which difficult to source. IFIK 5/16" vacuum line can be used in its place, but I am going from memory on the size.

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

If that line is broken will it case bad emissions?

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

You mean cause bad emissions? The CCP line is plugged into full time manifold vacuum port so if it is broken it will act as if you have a vacuum leak. At idle, small leak may increase idle speed. Generally speaking vacuum leaks cause higher HC levels. In a third gen MAP sensor reports slightly lower vacuum level, which corresponds to a higher engine load, which ECM compensates by adding a bit more fuel. In a close loop mode ECM will trim excess fuel, based on O2 feedback, but in open loop it may run slightly rich since O2 sensor readings are ignored. Tough to say for sure without out sticking gas analyzer up the exhaust pipe.

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

Thank you for the knowledge. I have it rigged in a way that works for now, however; I want to replace it with an OEM or neat OEM part. I will try the one you mentioned above.

Is there an aftermarket Hot Air pipe that you recommend?

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

Are you failing the visual inspection or something? You don't really need a heat riser/thermostatic air cleaner. I lived in AK for years and never bothered repairing the ones on two tbi vehicles I had until the I/M inspectors made me, I never noticed a bit of difference in running or warm up time. Generally the valve seizes or the tube falls apart and they don't work rapidly after repair/replacement. To my knowledge no one makes the air cleaner housing, the tubing and valves are usually availible at auto parts stores. For the vac line if you want pretty get some stainless or alloy tubing and a bender, use rubber vac line to make soft couplers. May be able to get the OEM plastic thru one of the vendors specializing in camaros or a salvage yard.
