Car Got Warm Now Doesnt Start

hey how are you guys doing? I just bought a 1991 Firebird Forumla about 2 months ago with 127XXX miles on it. It has the 5.0 and is TBI. This car runs like a champ though

I got the car with only one problem. the cooling fan did not want to kick on ever so it would get warm in town but on the high was it was fine. found out the fan turns on when i have the air conditioning on. therefore, i would have the air on low at all times. Still didnt fix the overheating in town.

One day i was driving in town (on empty gas line but has been lower before) and it was getting hot so i shut it down and let it sit for about 5 or 10 minutes. Went to start the car and it wouldnt start... Waited and then pump the gas and it wanted to do a little bit of something but it didnt.. 2 minutes later after turning it over and over i gave it a couple good pumps to the peddle and it started rough but then when it was running it was running good as usual.

Got home 2 miles down the road and i shut it off to turn it back over to see if it would start and nothing, not even after any pumps or anything

First thing i did was check the spark, pulled the plug out and grounded it to the block and I am indeed getting spark. Next thing i did was check the fuel so i unscrewed the line at the carb and a little gas dribbled out. put the line back on and then though maybe it just doesnt have enough gas to get through the gas lines.. Put 3 gallons in and got 1/4 tank. I pumped the gas and turned it over about 25 times and nothing. I went and poured some gas in the carb and went to turn it over and it fires up like a champ then dies because it burned all the fuel i had put in it. check the fuel line again after 20 minutes of messing around and it once again dribbled gas but then after that it was dry after turning it over and over again. I dripped gas in the carb and it stated up again and dripped gas in while it was running for about 30 seconds to maybe get the fuel sucked back up in the line and i one again checked and nothing.

Today i went to see if maybe when the fuel was low it maybe sucked up all the garbage in the tank into the filter. Unscrewed the out port on the fuel filter and it was pouring gas....

Ive had 2 third gens before this but this ones got me stumped...

Could be the fuel pump or ignition module? PLEASE HELP!

Re: Car Got Warm Now Doesnt Start

probably a bad fuel pump or an electrical problem
cutting power to the fuel pump.If fuel pressure is good,
check that the injectors are getting power.

There are no injectors. Its carb but how do I check the fuel pressure to see if fuel pump is bad

That's the thing is my distributerr can't be bad because when I pour gas in the carb and crank it over she runs like a champ

If its TBI, it IS fuel injected, and does NOT have a carb. TBI looks like a carb, but has a fuel injector(s) in the center of it.

Sounds to me like either (a) the injectors aren't spraying or (b) the fuel pump isn't pressurizing and sending fuel out...

then it must be your fuel pump because thats really the only reason i can see it not sending fuel to the carb or throttle body which ever you have
