I had also put a 350 in place of my 305, and also had timing issues, but it wasnt timing issues after all. I need to do some chip tuning. Set my timing it 0* and adjusted my TPS, and started datalogging and chip tuning, smoothed everything out, and now she runs like a champ. If you are having some timing problems and dont feel like your getting all you can out of the engine, maybe try some chip tuning.

What did you sawp the 305 for? What heads are on your new motor? Is it still TBI?
LO3 motors with swirl port heads need only 0° to 4° advance (with some exceptions due to cam selection).
Motors without swirl port heads will necessitate 10° to 12° advance.
