i stayed with an lt1

i ve got a 92 rs with an LQ5, headers, open element air filter, custom chip.and the 350 injectors and i stayed with a 97 z28 with a catback just telling all of you that if done right it doesn t take much to be fast enough! We only went from a roll whihc i think helped since i still have 2.73 gears.

Sounds about right. You must have a good tune with your combo. Do you have an LO5 and not an LQ5? I am not familiar with any LQ5.

Dude right on man. I am trying to stick with tbi for as long as I can. For one I already have it and it is cheaper to work with. I have seen some of the tbi cars on this board making some really awesome power and making it into the 12's no problem so until I have tapped out the potential I will not switch to anything else.

Good luck with your tuning and mods and congrats on your car man

from my point of view, TBI= a carb that doesnt have trouble starting when it's 10 degrees outside

I'm looking into that ZZ383 crate motor, and retaining the TBI setup

Yeah get that 383!! There a quite a few 383 tbi combos on this board. R90camaros or something like that has a pretty bad *** one. So it definitely can be done.

Not to call or anything but how fast of a roll was it? As a former owner of modded Lo3 and Lo5 and now modded Lt1 I can tell you that the Lt1 will rape either of the Lox motors no problem. The problem with the stock Lo5/Lo3 motors are the swirl port crappy heads and the motors lack any high end, the Lt1 has so much more pull from upper rpm's even bone stock over the Lo5. I have raced my old car(now my brothers) repeatedly from a roll and there's no chance for him at all, I can easily pull 1-2 cars in no time. But from a stop, he can hook like crazy which leads me to play catch up for a second or two but by the 1/8 I'm a good car or so ahead of him. Dunno if the guy in the Z could drive or not but good kill either way. Like I said, not trying to call Bs or take away from your kill but in my personal experience an internally stock Lo5 will get raped by a near stock Lt1. Goodkill nonetheless!!!

we went from 20 40 and 60 every time i stayed with him until i had to shift cause with a completly worn out 700R4 it took forever to shift
we never did go above 80 though becuase my third gear was useless if i tried to get on it hard the clutches would just slip

I have beat quite a few LT1 cars. Never had a shot at a LS1 car from a stop but got slammed by one from 70 to 110

Rad8,

Are you running a 305? How do you like the head and cam swap that you have? Just wondering. I am thinking of building up the 305 that I took out of my car as a spare engine and I have an lt1 cam and vortec heads sitting around with a rpm air gap manifold. Figured that it would be cool just to build and then have incase my engine took a huge s h i t on me.
