rebuilt motor need some help
hey guys i went from a 305 tbi to a 350 tbi. i got it bored .30 over and cam and a bunch of other stuff. anyways my question is:
when i first start it up and start driving it runs like a bastard. i have a 160 degrees theremostat in it. now once the fan kicks on at 220 degrees it really starts to be a dog. i have the timing set at 0. when it starts running into the 220 once in awhile it'll pop (like it's not timed right) i also have a chip but i'm waiting on the guy to tell me his opinion on things.
also i plan on going to jegs and getting a fan switch that turns the fan on at 176 and off a 166. my friend recommended that since i said it runs crappy hot he told me he had to put a fan switch in his worked 305 because it ran bad too at a high temperature. what do you all think?

I also did a 305-350 tbi swap and in order for it to even run right you need bigger injectors, a 350 knock sensor, a 350 ESC module and at the very minimum the caprice chip to get it running. With your setup I'm sure you're gonna need a custom chip to see its full potential. You might also want to look into getting either the Holley 670 or the 454tbi from a junkyard. My set up still needs tuning and I'm basically stock so I know you're gonna require a whole lot more than me. GoodLuck!

well i foudn the problem. it was the chip. i got a chip custom made from Brian at www.tbichips.com he did an awesome job helping me out and programming the chip. i have the 350 injectors and spark modual and i also have the knock sensor. the knock sensor i used was not new and it didn't look all that good but i didn't have the extra 70 bucks to get a new knock sensor. well it runs awesome thanks for the help
