You should tell what year you car is just in case the ECM box is different. The easiest way is a highly expensive, high tech, very rare "paper clip". YES!!!

Under the dash on the drivers side theres the ports for the ECM, and you shove the clip into the top right ports. A & B. (AM I RIGHT GUYS, OR ARE THERE DIFFERENT ECM'S THAN MINE)

Turn the key to on but DON"T START THE CAR. Your check engine light will "BLINK" pause "BLINK" "BLINK" long pause. thats a code 12 meaning the computer is functioning properly. It will do that 2 more times before moving on to the next code that you might have.

EX. say you have a code 43. IT will do the code twelve, then have a longer pause then go "BLINK BLINK BLINK BLINK" pause "BLINK BLINK BLINK BLINK". and you reference that to us OR they are all explained in the $12 Haynes manual which I highly suggest you pick up before you do this.

Hope this helps

The get codes out you must ground the diagnostic terminal on the ALDL.

This is usually located on the driver's side under the dash.

xxxxBA
xxxxxx

This is the standard female port arrangement. With engine off connect port B and A with a small wire. Now switch the key to the ignition on position BUT DO NOT START THE ENGINE. I must emphasize that you do not start the engine else you may damage your ECM. The system will now enter a diagnostic mode in which it will display codes. The first code is always 12. 1 flash then a pause followed by 2 quick flashers. This is done a total of 3 times. Then the next code will be displayed in the same manner. Take EGR code 32, 3 flashes, a pause then 2 flashes. This is then repeated 2 more times for a total of 3 times. When all codes are done being displayed, a code 12 will reappear and the cycle will start again. Once you have all the codes disconnect the wire. Just do a quick search for ECM trouble codes and compare the numbers or come back here and ask.

Car: 87 Camaro LT

Be afraid... be very afraid.
Yeah, sounds like your ECM is trying to tell you it hates your guts and is trying to sabotage your car.

(actually I have no clue until you tell me how many times it blinks... usually letting it cycle for 5-15 minutes will be a fail-safe way of finding out every single problem)
