Koni vs KYB

Hi all
I'll be installing MOOGs 5662/cc635. I understand these are NOT lowering springs, almost "factory". So my question is, is it worth spending big on konis or should I go the KYB route? If the konis work superior with "non-lowering" springs I don't mind spending my money on konis. Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can spend far, far bigger than Konis. That being said, Konis are great shocks and you will likely enjoy them. KYB is the minimum acceptable choice.

Re: Koni vs KYB

I put the Koni’s on mine and really like them. The shocks on my car were beat. With larger anti roll bars and the Koni’s it felt way better. I would say the Koni’s will be stiffer than the KYBs. The ride is still good with the Koni’s. I plan on keeping my car so I put the Koni’s on it. If you are going to drive a little spirited the Koni’s would be the choice. The KYBs would work for cruising.

Re: Koni vs KYB

Even at stock height the Konis will provide a nice bump in handling. Especially over whatever old shock is on there now.

however lowering the car does provide some excellent benefits as well.

the shocks job is to control body movement. A crap shock will give you a crap ride and contribute to excessive body roll during transitions. A good shock will keep the car composed and far more comfortable to ride in.
