Speedway Motors Tubular A Arms

I tried doing a search, but found nothing.
Speedway Motors has a tubular A Arm option for our cars.
Has any one used these A arms?
They come with Delrin bushings and cost only 40 dollars more then it would be to buy the Del-A-Lum bushing kit from Global West.
Hell they cost 400 less then UMI's Tubular A Arms. Surely someone has tried these or could chime in with info?
Are they any good?

Re: Speedway Motors Tubular A Arms

They have been removed from the website for the time being due to defective welds. I was told this morning they will be revising them before putting them back on the site.

Re: Speedway Motors Tubular A Arms

I actually purchased them the same day I made this post.
They arrived and looked great, but a few days later I was contacted by the company. They had found possible defects in manufacturing that concerned them.
So they were issuing an immediate recall. Options given were to get a full refund, or wait until QC-Inspected parts arrived.

Re: Speedway Motors Tubular A Arms

Damn, those are cheap. Almost a exact copy of the UMI part. However, i noticed the zerk fittings are on top of the bushing. Wont they be hard to grease up when installed?

On a third gen it might be a little difficult. Found these on the web for a 72, wonder if the ideal was just carried over

Re: Speedway Motors Tubular A Arms

A little oversight going on there, i guess. It has to be easier if they're on the bottom in most any set-up, wouldn't it?

Re: Speedway Motors Tubular A Arms

I wonder if its' because these are also used on the G-body platform?
Their might be an issue on G-bodys that caused them to have to put the grease fitting there?
No clue either way. When I get them back and get around to putting them on mine I'll let you all know how it goes.
But considering mines getting a full teardown/rebuild with an ls swap, it's going to be a long time till I can actually give any meaningful review beyond looks and initial fitment.

Replacement arms came in.
They look good. It'll be awhile before I get then installed though.

They look good. Wonder if you could just drill a hole on the bottom for the zerk and plug the top one.

I don’t really see why you wouldn’t be able to, the bottom side is going to have the same bushing/steel tube arraignment as the top.

Re: Speedway Motors Tubular A Arms

I came across these on Speedway's website yesterday. Did you ever get them installed? How are they working for you?

Not that I would trust these near as much as a nice set of UMIs, but as a replacement for a bent or rusted stamped control arm? I'd take that deal.

Still pending, as usual life gets in the way.
Hopefully before end of this year I'll have it and everything else in the car.
I can say they mount right up to UMI's Tubular K Member here's a few pics.

I don’t know if I would call it fortuitous, but the “replacement for a bent stamped control arm” ended up hitting a little close to home. Bent my control arm installing new bushings. Guess I’ll be testing these as stock replacements!

Re: Speedway Motors Tubular A Arms

I wish i knew about these first, I was looking for replacement control arm, yet there was nothing available, but these look great for the money!

I ended up going with UMI K -member and control arms....1400 bucks later...........

looks like you went with LS1 brakes from big brake upgrades?

Never mind, Speedway still hasn't shipped, and has no idea when they'll be available. Not going to wait indefinitely to put the car back together. Now... Which A Arms to get instead? Leaning BMR...

As much as I would have liked a set of UMIs, I just couldn't stomach the 4x price increase from the Speedways. 2.85X was hard enough going to BMR. I ended up buying those ones not long after my last post.

I am also the last guy that needs super high end performace... I'm rocking an 85k mile 2.8 V6, in a base base base model '89. Eventually I have big plans for the car, but for now, even the Speedways were probably overkill.
