Lowering on air bags, is a watts link worth it?
I am doing a rotisserie full custom ground up build and will be putting the car on air bags.
Big 20" wheels in the back that will be running 12" wide rims (most likely) to really fill in the minitubs.
I want the rim lip to be tucked super tight to the quarter panel lip.
As the car goes up and down from ride height to show height (parked), the panhard rod moves the rear thru an arch, pivoting on by the panhard rod of course.
This will make the rear body to wheels move with relation to each other slightly.
A watts link removes this lateral movement. Anyone know if the movement is significant? If the watts link truly gets rid of all lateral movement.
Thanks for any insights.

I have a UMI watts link but can’t really give you the answer if it will be the right call for you or not. My advice would be talk with some with bags and have them measure the movements before you pull the trigger.
Stan just bagged his camaro I have talked with Stan a few times super nice dude and I’m sure he would help you out if he can.

Do you know Stan's user name on TGO?
Could also try to contact him thru YouTube I guess.

Right on. I will try to contact him tomorrow. Thanks.
I have been thinking of making a YouTube channel to document my build, but figured a thread on here is way less work, and most people don't care too much about non-bolt on stuff on here.

I hope to be able to get mine installed. I went down the same path as you with the watts link thinking. I bought a UMI watts link last year for the air ride on my car. The car doesn't have the engine in it but I can see about manually putting air in it and running it up and down with the panhard bar in it and then install the watts link and see what it does. Gotta wait for a warmer day though.

Hey, any help would be great.
I am a mechanical engineer and use CAD for everything so i decided to check the panhard bar lateral movement effect that way. I have it all roughed out in CAD, now i need to go to the garage and do some precise measurements on the rear quarters, axle and mounting points. Then it is easy to virtually cycle suspension model to any point and see what lateral effects there are.
If it is like half an inch or less, i dont think i will bother with the watts link.
I can post images of the CAD when done if it would be potetially useful for anyone.

Re: Lowering on air bags, is a watts link worth it?
Thanks for the heads up. I saw that video drinking my coffee this morning, but haven't watched it yet. Will do tonight.
The more I think about the direction of my build and what I am going to use the car for, mainly shows.
I don't think I will bother with the Watts and just size my wheels to have a tad bit more clearance from my minitubs and outer quarter.
