Steering Gear Box

I am looking to replace my worn out gear box. I have searched these threads and see where a few of you sent your old gear box off to be rebuilt and have had good luck with the online company( can't remember the name off hand) I will be having my mechanic swap mine out so I would rather not have my car at his place while I am waiting for the rebuild.
As you know it is hard to find the Fast Ratio 10:1 gear that came with the F41 rpo code. I found this one @ Summit, it is a reman by a company called Lares Corporation. Anyone heard of these guys? I read the horror stories about the junk Cardone and others that rebuild but most of those guys don't offer the 10:1 gear anyway. Borgeson is not in the budget plus I want an exact fit instead of a universal that I may have to modify something.

Re: Steering Gear Box

Try taking a look at powersteering.com. Marty does really great work. He can have it back to you within a week or two if you call him. That way you can keep your original if it is the fast ratio without having to worry about adjusting bump stops.

Re: Steering Gear Box

Sounds like this is the way to go, alot of others have been happy with this company's work. The cost is the same as the Lares rebuild and I will just do it my self as I don't want to leave my car for 2 weeks at my mechanics.
Thanks guys

Re: Steering Gear Box

Also look at Sweet Manufacturing. They sell new boxes outright and or will rebuild yours.

A friend of mine has had them do a bunch of resto work on many pumps and boxes. He's 100% satisfied.

You can't go wrong with them, I tried a Cardone box, total waste of money. If your box is not quick ratio, they can make one, they will let you know and give you options. I love the way my car drives since having mine done last year. Money well spent in my opinion.
