UMI releases 3rd Gen front sway bar and relo brackets

1982-1992 GM F-Body Front Sway Bar, 35mm
UMI P/N 2117
$249.99
2117 Catalog page

Application:
1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro
1982-1992 Pontiac Firebird
(All models)

UMI 2117 Front Sway Bar kit

UMI’s 35mm (1-⅜”) solid front sway bar is designed to reduce body roll and increase responsiveness and cornering capabilities of the 3rd Gen. UMI’s front sway bar is 22% more rigid than the hollow 36mm, 1LE Front sway bar. Each kit includes heavy duty relocation brackets that improve clearances around the steering system and strut. Increased clearance allows for a greater variety of options with struts, including adjustable style struts. Relocation allows the use of upgraded billet sway bar mounts (sold separately). The sway bar kit includes heavy duty end links, large diameter poly sway bar bushings, zinc plated clamshells, and all required hardware. Manufactured in the USA from 1-⅜" high carbon tubular steel, CNC bent and formed to ensure maximum strength and performance. Sway bar is available bright red or gloss black powder coat for a durable, long lasting finish.

Installation Note: Sway bar kit includes spacers to allow proper installation with UMI’s front wonder bar, P/N 2030. Spacers may work with other brand wonder bars as well. P/N 2030 front wonder bar is optional and not needed to complete the sway bar installation.

Features:

1-⅜” (35mm) CNC bent 4140 chromoly construction.
Perfect for corner carving while maintaining ride comfort and flatter cornering.
Excellent multi-purpose bar.
Fits in stock location using supplied brackets.
Manufactured in the USA.

1982-1992 GM F-Body Front Sway Bar Relocation Brackets
UMI P/N 2119
$49.99

Application:
1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro
1982-1992 Pontiac Firebird
(All models)

UMI 2119 Relocation Bracket kit

UMI’s heavy duty relocation brackets improve clearances around the steering system and struts by moving the mounting points slightly forward. Increased clearance allows for a greater variety of options with struts, including adjustable style struts. Relocation also allows the use of UMI’s upgraded billet sway bar mounts (sold separately). This is an excellent upgrade for factory brackets that are rusted or breaking from competition use.

Installation Note: Relocation brackets eliminate the offset factory sway bar clamshell and now use off the shelf sway bar bushings and mounts. Factory sway bar mounts will not work with new sway bar relocation brackets. Relocation kit also includes spacers to allow proper installation with UMI’s front wonder bar, P/N 2030. Spacers may work with other brand wonder bars as well. P/N 2030 front wonder bar is optional and is not needed to complete installation.

Features:
⅜” thick steel with laser cut construction.
Use with factory or other aftermarket sway bars including UMI 2117.
Used to remove the offset sway bar mount and replace with the more common straight style.
Correct mounting hardware included.
Includes spacers to allow installation of most front wonder bars.
Powder coated black for a lasting finish.
Manufactured with pride in Philipsburg, PA- USA.

Re: UMI releases 3rd Gen front sway bar and relo brackets

[QUOTE=UMI Sales;6247513] UMI’s front sway bar is 22% more rigid than the hollow 36mm, 1LE Front sway bar.
[QUOTE]

I'm not being combative, I just want to know the figures behind the claim.
Do you know the torsional stiffness in lb/in of both bars? How do you come up with "22% more rigid?"

Thanks

Those numbers give 18%. Since there is a range I probably should have said "approximately 20%".

I guess I'm missing something here. Please post a pic to illustrate what you're saying here. Thanks.

Actually, 506 x 1.22 = 617 and 506 x 1.21 = 612 so 22% is an accurate increase. More accurately, based on 616 and 506 it's a 21.73913043478261% increase

To add to this, the 1LE bar would be 18% LESS rigid than this UMI bar. The UMI bar is 22% MORE rigid than the 1LE bar. Either is correct. Isn't math fun?

Re: UMI releases 3rd Gen front sway bar and relo brackets

It would be nice if you combined the relocation bracket into the steering brace/wounder bar.
