PA Racing A_arms....just got em!
Hey I just recieved my tubular a-arms from PARACING.NET. They look awesome and are light as hell. I will be putting them in in a few weeks. I will post more results and possibly some pictures soon.
Question though, the instructions say that they are NOT D.O.T. apporved. Is this becuase of structural integrity or they just did not want to go through the paperwork of getting them approved?
Thanks
Steve

... not really sure about the D.O.T. thing. Did it say in the paperwork that this is an 'off road use only' part?

The instructions did NOT say that it was an offroad only part...just that it was not D.O.T. approved.
They are NOT the coil over type. They are the ones that are the direct replacement for the factory ones using the stock type spring and strut configuration.

I'll get a set eventually with the crossmember also. I need everything I can to reduce weight.
I'm also not sure why they don't have a DOT rating. They probably won't withstand stuff like curb impacts as well as stock components.
I also don't like the idea of the coilovers. All the weight of the front of the car being supported by the inner fenders just doesn't seem right to me. The factory setup has the springs under the frame rails supporting the car. The struts only support a portion of the weight. If I went to their coilover system I would get my roll bar converted into a full cage and have the forward bars attached to the inner fender close to the top of the strut. Then have another bar on the front side going down to the frame. I'd feel a bit safer with that extra support on the inner fenders.

I know plenty of people who have used art morrison coil overs for a long time before the PA's have become available...haven't had any problems and this was on a 9.50 car
also....since the car had coil overs, it had tubular a-arms and again it didn't have problems with those either
true they aren't as strong as stockers, but dont be a moron and head for every pothole and you'll be fine
i've talked to jason and he has told me that he has a few guys running k-members/a-arms/coilovers on the street and they haven't broken it yet

The deal with the Morrison coil-over (and RoadTech's version as well) is that they both use a plate under the "wheelhouse" for the coilover spring to seat against - which then pushes up
on the wheelhouse. ARAIK, the PA design has the spring's aluminum mount "seat" up inside the stock
strut alignment housing which is only retained by
three bolts.... Hope this made sense.
Is that the "Drag Race Only" control arm? IMHO,
it looks a little weak for "real street" or
road race situations - no crossbar support. On
the Corner-Carvers forum, they're discussing
the Griggs A-arms breaking and they -appear-
to be much stronger....
Oh, here's a picture of my Road Tech K-member, tubular A-arms, & Koni struts using HAL springs.
thanks,
T.
