TPIS STRUTS- FOR ARCHIVE

REPOST FOR ARCHIVE:

TPIS hasn't sold these struts for 5 years now. I called today to ask and spoke with Bob. He thought it was weird that they were getting a bunch of calls lately.

He also had a great comment about how all the good options today don't make it ride well...something about how people think you should be internally bleeding after trip around the block to show how well it performs.

Re: TPIS STRUTS- FOR ARCHIVE

LOL. That would be because of me. I keep recommending them to ppl. I too called the other day and was told they no longer have them.... I was dumb founded..... cause I referred a bunch of guys there...

I have a set and love them. I talked to a kid who didnt know much,(had to ask) said them might be able to and to call back. I asked about my struts and there Life time warranty and was told they would figure something out. I do know they are great guys to work with and they know their stuff. Both engine performance and track/street performance. I used to go there all the time when I first got my Z.

So apologizes to who ever got their hopes up. Maybe if they get enough ppl that want a set they will have some made???

Re: TPIS STRUTS- FOR ARCHIVE

I asked them that same question...about making more sets...and right now, they aren't worried about it, as demand was too low 5 years ago.

FWIW...Bob did mention that the TPIS struts/shocks were custom made by Marymont (sp) before (he thinks they are now owned by Gabriel). I can also tell you that I asked about the lifetime warranty...Bob laughed and said "good luck on that". Meaning that since they are no longer being made...no warranty replacements. Since I didn't buy the struts, and have no paperwork/warranty...I don't personally care to inquire further.

I care as I have a set on my 91 Camaro that has been off the road for a while. I am now accumulating parts for the suspension rebuild and was hoping to have another option, especially since TPIS is local to me.

Re: TPIS STRUTS- FOR ARCHIVE

did you ask them why they still have them in the catalog if they haven't sold them for 5 years?

I used to have a set, too. And used to visit a lot when I lived there.
Ask them about the time when the house next door blew up.

The goal is to control the contact patch of the tires to keep the vehicle on the road, and generate maximum grip.
If you concentrate on making the tire-to-ground interface as efficient as possible, you will maximize the available grip. With more grip comes more confidence and usually more ride comfort.

I DID when I called. They said they were in the middle of redoing their website. When I first called, the kid was amazed that I could find the part number. He asked where I found it and I told him on their web site. Thats when He told me they havent had them for years. I said, well huh, Its right on the web. Thats when he told me they were updating the site. I gotta be honest. I was a little upset to hear this because not only do I have a set, but I referred a bunch of ppl to them. So I told the guy that maybe they should fix it and get more 3rd gen parts cause they are starting to come around now. (politely)
