Extending (or de-copmress) new strut shaft

Trying to install new strut. Strut shaft came in fully compressed. Mounted it and jacked up LCA...still won't reach to knuckle bolt.

What am I missing.

Take off the little clip that's holding it compressed for shipping?

Just don't try to "aim it". It will release too quickly for you to try and aim the strut shaft into position of the strut mount hole. Release the A-arm so you have sufficiant room to release the strut cartridge and then jack it all back up into place carefully.

There are no clips, nothing obvious holding the shaft....

Saw the full video. Unfortunately there are no such clip, or rubber band ....nothing that is holding the shaft to the body. It is simply sitting there as fully compress...I tried to pull it....mounted it and tied a heavy load underneath hoping eventually it will extend... none...it remains fully inserted (compressed).

Some struts require that the rod be twisted some to release. Try pushing it in slightly and turning it.
