I have an 87 IROC Z28 that I did a motor swap in. The car is much lighter in the front end now and it sits higher than stock.
I got a new set of IROC springs from a buddy and I want to cut a small amount out of the front springs to compensate for the height.
I was told that I would have to cut a full coil out of the springs so they will be clocked correctly in the strut mount.

^ Is this true?

I was only going to cut 3/4" to 1" out of the front springs to drop the ride height a small amount in the front end.
Advice is appreciated.

And no I do not want lowering springs, I do not want to risk changing my pinion angle as I plan on racing the car.

It's my understanding that the bottom of the spring is the end that has to be indexed. A search could tell you for sure. There are lots of threads on this topic. Lots of guys on here have cut springs. Rule of thumb is a 1/4 coil at a time unless you know exactly how much to cut.

Remember, DO NOT GET THE SPRINGS HOT WHEN YOU CUT THEM!!!!
