i had my dad look at my car not to long ago and and he looked at my tierod ends and he said my passenger side needed replaced, well now that im looking at getting the replacements idk what i need, do i need my inner or outer tie rod ends? i thought our cars only had outers

log onto rock auto and buy the new parts
you can get all 4 for under $40 shipped

look for the Movtech Parts better the the GM parts and
made the same has the Moog Parts without the Over price tage of Moog.
made in Canada you cant go wrong.

iv cut moog and Movtech parts in Half.(band saw). go with the Movtech
and save about $90.

the arms on the Movtech parts are also made thicker then then OEM GM Parts that came on the car..

you could get a all new front end parts (use your old drag link) for less then $60
i get alot of the Movtech parts Plated.

im sure sombody will say buy Moog.. and they do make good parts also.

have you tried or heard of auto extra? rockauto only have the outer mevos, not the inners. auto extra has both

auto extra is a budget brand, basic economy replacement. a couple of suggestions:
1. replace inners, outers, and adjusters all at once. take them out as complete assemblies and do you best to match the new assemblies up to the old ones. you'll still need to get an alignment, but at least they won't be completely out of whack.
2. grab yourself some quality adjusters like these:

it will make current and future adjustments much easier than the stamped sheet metal stock ones. you'd also technically get better performance out of them, but nothing you're ever going to notice on an otherwise stock car.

whats wrong with my stock adjusters? i thought those didnt go bad?, dan have you tried the mevos or heard of them? any better than auto techs?

Take 1ADan's advice, except one step further; which also explains why you want new adjusting sleeves (and it's not because they "go bad")

If you have bad tie rod ends, your center link - the thing that wears the most besides the idler arm - is CERTAINLY toast as well. Plus, since you have 4 tie rod ends all of which are of the EXACT SAME construction, and have been subject to the EXACT SAME conditions for the EXACT SAME length of time, then they are all in basically the EXACT SAME state of wear.

Given that, what's the point in changing out just one? You'll be back under there in a month changing another, and 6 more weeks changing another, and 3 more weeks changing the last; alignments get expensive when you buy that many.

Go buy a center link, all 4 tie rod ends, and a pair of adjusters.

Remove your center link and both tie rod sets, as an assembly, without disturbing ANYTHING. Lay it on the ground. Assemble your all-new those parts right next to it, to the EXACT SAME lengths. Install. Drive to alignment shop.

Your steering linkage is now good to go for another 100,000 miles or so, without you having to take any further grief over it.

Don't forget the Idler arm. Those wear too...

The adjusting sleeves don't usually "go bad" but they do tend to rust up and seize and become a total PITA to work with. If you don't wanna get the UMI parts, just get the factory style replacement in the brand of your choice.

Get both, but good luck. I can't get the correct length or the inner with the zirc fitting on the end and not the back. I've just been consistently getting the wrong ones. Oreileys told me I have to go somewhere else to get the correct parts. Autozone duralast only has fittings on the back. Which doesn't work on the inside.

those aftermarket adjusters are only needed if you like to tweak your toe settings a lot because the wrench flats make it a little bit easier... i've never seen a factory adjuster sleev bend, but i've replaced a few bent tie rods in my life.
