Fittings on factory LCAs?

Anyone see anything wrong with putting a fitting in factory front and rear control arms, panhard, ect? Installing poly bushings in the front at the moment, figured I would drill through the outer metal of the control arm, through the metal sheath of the metal bushing housing, the rubber part of the bushing, create a canal all the way around in the middle, and then slide the center metal rod in for the bolt canal. Anyone see a problem with this? Do not want to do this again, even though it's been fun *sarcasm*. I don't want to deal with squeaks and what not, not to mention obviously how much labor it is to get back in there, so might as well do this when it's the easiest. Any thoughts? I searched and only found one two person convo, no one else chimed in, so just want more than one person's opinion or experiences.

Re: Fittings on factory LCAs?

Yes grease fittings, I already bought a set of energy suspension poly bushings. And I am going to be getting grease-able sway bar bushings, just trying to get a feel for what to do with these bushings to keep them from squeaking. Is it going to squeak around the inside metal tube that the bolt goes through or the big metal ring that the bushing slides into?

Also, does anyone know of a local place to get the front control arm bolts/nuts? I see that there is a step to them, so I want to get the correct bolts, and I'd rather not wait for them to come in the mail.

Re: Fittings on factory LCAs?

I have a set of factory LCAs with new bushings that have zerk fittings in them, if that is what you are meaning. So I see no problem with doing that.

Re: Fittings on factory LCAs?

Alright, i didn't see a problem with them, just didn't know if there was a write up I missed on doing it, or if there was something special I should do or if I had over simplified my thoughts. Thanks, any other thoughts people?

Blackenedbird, did you do anything special? Also what kind of grease do you use? I hear a lot about marine grease.

Re: Fittings on factory LCAs?

They were already on a parts car I got years ago. Just still setting around, so I got a pic for you.

The bushing just presses in & the black ring to the right is a bushing piece. If I pulled the zerk fitting out, I could get the bushing pressed out. Obviously it couldn't go in or out with the zerk fitting in place.

Re: Fittings on factory LCAs?

I use synthetic stuff that Spohn sells for all my bushings.
