Spohn crossmember mounted torque arm problem?

Spohn crossmember mounted torque arm problem?
So I took the old cross member off. 2 bolts on each side. And the nut in the middle (I'm pretty sure this is for the tranny mount). I got the new cross member on, and the screw that the nut is suppose to go on in the middle does not come down far enough through the cross member? I can't even get it started?
The only thing I can think of is the place where the stock torque arm mounted is still attached to the transmission. It seems to be resting on my cross member. Maybe if I remove it, it will allow the tranny to drop a little more?
Anyone else run into this?

if the stock bracket is hitting the crossmember, take it off, should let things sit down properly

Took it off, still not even close. WTF. I guess I'll email SPOHN. The SPOHN is sooooooo much thicker than the stock one. I don't see how it would ever work?

does your stand mount sit on the new mounting pad?
does the stud come out of your trans mount? or is it part of it.
If it comes out you can get a longer bolt to rep[lace it with, if it doesnt come out, you may have to buy a new trans mount

I bought a new poly rubber mount/bushing for the trans and with my torque arm, i had to get much longer bolts to fit thru the spohn x-member mount. (The part you circled)
The trans mount I got thru spohn as well when I purchased the x-member. Its the kind that has bolt holes in it and you need long bolts to feed thru the bottom of the x-member to screw into the trans mount.
I dont remember what the stock trans bushing/mount looked like, but if it did have a stud on it, its not going to be long enough. Need to get a new bushing and use bottom bolts.

What a day, I couldn't get my retainer ring to press on all the way on my 12 bolt axle also. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

so the bolt has to go all the way through the crossmember plus the extra space in the mount part on the crossmember? Sounds weird, the opening in the crossmember is not larger enough for the bolt head to fit through?

Yes it has to go all the way through. It can fit through. It's just not nearly long enough.
The umi one has a nice hole in the bottom where you can fit a socket into. The spohn does not.

If you’re using a stock type transmission mount bushing that has a male stud hanging out of it, you can not use this type of mount with some of our crossmembers. We recommend using a polyurethane transmission mount, or if you want to stay with rubber, get a transmission mount from a 1965 V-8 Chevelle (available from any local auto parts store), this mount has two female holes just like a polyurethane mount does. If using a one bolt transmission mount place it through the center hole in the crossmember. If using a polyurethane mount, or an early GM type mount as mentioned above, use the outer two holes in the crossmember using the two 7/16" bolts that were supplied with your crossmember.

Bought the same one for a 84 and mount with bolts from bottom and was a 2 hour bolt in no problem. Made a lot of diff in traction and launch.
