Transmission: T56

Wheel Hop!!

I have massive wheel hop durring hard acceleration... here is a picture that best describes my problem..

My rims are too wide I have c6 wheels 10inches wide with 2 inch spacers,
do not suggest getting rid of the wheels please. What do i need to do to make the rearend not sqaut so much during acceleration new shocks? Springs? They are original with 70,000 miles on them i dont mind sacraficing ride quality as long as i can floor it without pissing blood later. Thanks

the crazy thing about a third gen is the third link that runs from the rear end to the tranny cross member. this is what gives it that nose up attitude when you stand on it. and as long as its there your goina go nose high when you stand on it. if your shocks are getting weak changing them might help but i still dont think it will solve your problem. you can always get stiffer springs but if the rear end dont tuck your not goina hook as well. if your just going for looks check into stiffer springs if you want to hook think about clearencing your wheel wells. just my thougts

i dont get it...
you have a solid axle, so the camber is fixed at 0*
no matter how much gas you give it, its still 0*
and even if you did manage to bend the axle, it WOULD NOT CREATE WHEEL HOP

for everyone who thinks their car has wheel hop, you are probably wrong.
wheel hop is where when you hit the gas, the wheel literally LIFTS OFF THE GROUND.
its a very specific problem with the suspension geometry and is fixed by altering the lower contol arm geometry (in our suspension setup)
wheel hop is caused when the torque on the axle pushes the instant center out of place.

what you probably have is a weak panhard bar and the axle is moving from side to side.
this is NOT WHEEL HOP

you could have wheels that are ten feet wide and it would not alter the suspension geometry at all.
bigger OD wheel/tire combos will have a SLIGHT effect on the geometry, but its small.

my suggestion, get a 1/8" spacer behind each wheel to push it out a bit, then get an adjustable UMI panhard bar so you can center the axle.

Do you think the rearend may be shimmying. each tire after the other? The problem with adding the spacer is that then i would have a total of 2 1/8th inches. then it hits my fender. It was only rubbing on one side so i rolled the right fender a little does this mean my axle is offcenter and i need to center it with an adjustable panhard rod i will roll the other side and add spacers tonight.

I didnt figure the wheels were tiping in i just figured that every thing moved far enough to rub closer to the top of the wheel well. good point with the panhard bar i never thought of that
