Coilover or Not?

Coilover or Not?
I am looking to replace my front control arms in the near future with some tubular arms and am contemplating the coilover route.
I know the cost will be much higher going with coilovers and I don't know if the performance will be worth the cost. If I stick with the stock configuration and go with a dual adjustable shock, would there be any disadvantages over the coilover? The only advantage I can see going coilover is the adjustable ride height.
The car is a street car that will see some drag strip and hopefully some autocross use.

if you are able to find springs and shocks that fits your needs and u do not need to change ride height than stick to stock style suspension

Re: Coilover or Not?
the issue with coil-overs is that they limit front tire width. This is not an issue with drag car, but with a auto-x car, this can be an issue. The may rim you can use is 9.5" wide and that just sticks out past the fender.
If you really need adjustable suspension, look into ground control weight jacks.
Building a street/strip/autox car will be a hard compromise, as chassis settings are much different between the three.

Re: Coilover or Not?
I agree, thus the reason for wanting lots of suspension adjustability. I won't be hardcore into any one discipline, but would like to be able to adjust for the conditions at hand.
Those weight jacks looks like a good alternative to going coilover, equalizing the spring adjustability advantage the coilover has. I have seen these for Jeep TJs but didn't know that they existed for our cars due to the limited spring length. I am going to dig into those deeper. Thanks for the idea

Re: Coilover or Not?
I'm currently running Koni Yellows and Eibachs along with Spohn A-arms + K-member (and a whole lot more). If I was starting over I would go coil overs from the beginning.
