Most Power Someone Has Put Down On Adaptors

Now first off I have used the search button and could not find what i was looking for. My question is how much power or how fast has someone gone on skulte adaptors or any adaptor for that matter. My Iroc currently puts down 450 at thw wheels with the TURBO LS1 but I'm about to install a Forged 370, bigger Turbo and Strange Dana 60. My new setup I'm shooting for 750HP to the wheels. Should I just get a set of 18's like drift r's for the street and some 16's or 15's for the track? This is racking my brain.

Re: Most Power Someone Has Put Down On Adaptors

Grifter - That's no problem at all. I've got quite a few drag racers running our adapters w/ some serious launches, and lots of street/road race guys in the same HP ballpark as your new setup (and I run the adapters myself on the Z28tt as well). The only application I wasn't comfortable with was a mud-bog competitor running dual rockwell axles with 2000 hp on 40" tires. If you think about how the adapters are loaded - the joint is exactly the same as a factory wheel to the hub, so it'll hold just as much torque. With the 5 lugnuts torque to 85 ft-lbs, you've got about 20,000 lbs clamping force (make sure the surfaces are clean and dry - I spray/wipe down with brake clean), so none of the torque will get transferred to the studs/lugnuts. In short - your 9 inch or Dana 60 will break before the adapters. I hope this helps!

Re: Most Power Someone Has Put Down On Adaptors

Thank you very much! this has been a great help. Although I think I might still get new wheels I am not in a rush any more. And if i break a Dana 60 then I will retire my car alltogether Again thanks for the help!
