Violent front end shake.

The front shocks on my RS are really weak and Ill be replacing them soon, but whenever I hit a huge hole or bump at high speed the whole front end feels like its gonna fall off and shakes violently. I stop then it goes like nothing happened at all. Im hoping its the shocks causing that, and not ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rods, etc. The coil springs are fine though.

Re: Violent front end shake.

With the right tools(ball joint remover, small tie rod puller)you can rebuild the whole steering system.Did mine in a day by myself.Parts are not expensive and it feels good knowing everything is new.You will have to have the front end aligned afterwards.
I would take it to an alignment shop and have them go over it,get a list of the problem(s) along with there price to fix it .
Then get the parts , fix it yourself and enjoy your car and all the $ you saved doing it yourself. Not hard to do if you have basic tool knowledge.
Most places do free estimates, then you can use them to do the alignment.

good luck

Re: Violent front end shake.

Mine did the same thing. The problem in my case was a worn out centerlink but I replaced the the the tie-rods and the centerlink. JUST TO BE SAFE. Hope this helps you or anyone else with this issue.

Re: Violent front end shake.

Mine does this as well, but I need struts, shocks, springs and bushings all around, I already replaced the whole steering, wheel bearings, and still have the problem, but I think it lies in between bushings and struts.

Re: Violent front end shake.

I had purchased rotors from autozone and the duralast gold series pads, now when i push on the breaks it feels like my wheels are whobbeling, wonder if it could be the rotors, hopefully this bushing project goes well this weekend.
