Re: Quick Manual Steering Box Question

Yes and no.

It will bolt directly onto the frame but the input shaft and pitman arm shaft are the wrong sizes.

You'll need a proper rag joint for the steering shaft and a correct length and angle pitman arm similar to the third gen arm for the smaller pitman arm shaft.

A quick ratio manual box is designed for a large steering wheel to give you extra mechanical leverage to turn.

It's a lot easier to just install a manual box from an S-10. The 84+ box is a direct swap and you can use the third gen's pitman arm on it to keep the same steering geometry.

If you still have wide front tires, you won't like low speed driving with a manual box.

Re: Quick Manual Steering Box Question

You want the S10 manual box with the 4 bolt top cover.

Re: Quick Manual Steering Box Question

Manual steering boxes are only in S10/S15's that have a 4 cylinder engine but not all 4 cylinder models have manual steering.

It's always possible the truck originally had a 4 cylinder and someone swapped in a V6 or even a V8.

I usually look for the 2.5L emblem on the grill.
