Re: edelbrock stb on a tpi

they are simple as hell, i've only installed two but, have very little mechanical knowledge and it went together as easily as i could have imagined.

what i did was mock mounted the brace up there on my newest tpi stb (bmr). Basically i just eyeballed it so the plates were the same distance apart on the strut towers on the left and right.

after my installs i prefer using the following

1.) a center punch (so your pilot holes are centered as close as possible)
2.) A small drill bit for drilling the pilot hole (1/4in or so seems to work well)
3.) Your final sized drill bit, i think the bmr bolts were 3/8in as were my old edelbrock tbi stb i beleive.

the rest is just dumby stuff i prefer using a 3/8 drive airgun to zip the plate bolts tight. If the edelbrock brace is a 3pnt (i don't think yours is but, i prefer a air ratchet for zapping the 3rd pnt down on mine)

basically took me the most time to mark all the holes and test fit mine.

btw you will probably find your holes don't match perfect (tough to get the hole exactly where you mark).

basically i've always found my last bolt hole is staggered about 1/16th of an inch, if thats true just wolller the hole out a tiny bit or use a drill bit 1/16 bigger.

i know i had 2 on my last bolt on the last couple braces, never do seem to get them truly perfect.

maybe a total of a half an hour install on the adjustable bmr bar. so yours is probably even a good bit easier.

Re: edelbrock stb on a tpi

thanks for all the advice. my car is currently at the shop getting bilstein shocks at all four corners and should (barring any more setbacks) be done monday. if its that easy then ill probably throw it on then. the kit also comes with two bars that run to the cowl area, but im thinking of leaving those off. first of all, not too thrilled about the idea of drilling through the cowl (might be wiring on the otherside) and as far as i can tell how an stb works, it really doesnt stop any flexing of the body or anything, just helps hold the bar in place. i dunno, i guess ill get back to you on that. i also got a set of jegs bolt in subframe connectors, you wouldnt have any tips oin those would you?
