Tires for 18-9.5 rims...275-40-18 or 275-35-18

Well I finally got my dream set of wheels, brand new I might add. They are the C5 Corvette magnesium 18-9.5 rims, and I got 4 of them instead of running the 17/18 setup. I didn't have a scale handy to weight them but boy are these suckers light. I bet they weigh less than one of the factory 15's. I will weight them this weekend.

Now the corvette came with a 275-40-18 but thats almost an inch taller than the 275-40-17 or the 245-50-16 that are usually run. If I went with a 275-35-18 then its the exact same height. I'm kind of leary of running the 35 series because of such a short sidewall, and that the 40 series would give more cushion. If I were to only use them for the track then its a no brainer, but I really want to run them on the streets as well.

I have the Eibach Pro kit installed thats only about a 1" drop, and I also have a Autometer electric speedo that can calibrate for any tire size. So with all that said who is running these tire sizes and can give me some insite. Handling, comfort, rubbing, etc...

Thanks

I run 275/35/18 in the rear, no problems with daily driving before the tranny blew (of course, avoiding potholes and such). But IMO the 35 series tire mixed with a Pro-Kit drop will be too much fendergap for my tastes. Depends on what you like.

I am still waiting for my 18" foose wheels and i was gonna go with 275/40/18 rear and 245/40/18 front but i think i'm gonna switch to 245/45/18s up front, I have prokit springs, I think it will work out nicely but i can't really find any pics yet
What U think of that setup Crazy?

I got 295/35R-18s on my 18x9.5 C5's. Ride isnt that bad, even with my junk monroe shocks. If you are worried about a rough ride, put some konis in your car, I have them in a previos car. They will dampen even the worst of roads

I am running a 285/35r18 in the rear and 265/35r18 up front and feel like these ride nice in the rear. Up front can be sharp on deep cracks and holes. It was dropped with a PRO- KIT, and crazyH is right there is too much fender gap, but switched to a SPORTLINE kit and now it is fine with no rubs - 18x9, 18x10.

Don't be affraid of the 35 series unless you roads around you are trashed and cannot avoid potholes.

If you want to maintain OEM tire height then those tires are too big. But if tire height is not a concern then it should work with the Pro-Kit. Sidewall would be a little fat for my tastes, but what matters is if you like it or not. Have fun!
