PS pump replacement
Yo guys, is it difficult to replace the power steering pump on the 88 IROC? Any special tools required? Looks like it wouldn't be too difficult to access with the wrenches.
What about the pulley? I see most replacement pumps come without pulley so it's necessary to re-use the original. Is it difficult to move to the new pump? Bolt on?
Lastly, who makes the best replacement pump? Delco?
Thanks!

I replaced mine about 4 years ago...it's pretty easy. I used a rebuilt pump from the local auto parts store. It was painted blue (?) so I repainted it black before installing it. I also installed a new GM high pressure hose since mine was leaking a bit. The aftermarket hose I tried didn't fit very well. The pulley is pressed on. Transferring it was easy, but I used the Kent-Moore tools for pulling it off and pressing it back on. No problems since.

Ouch. I don't have access to a puller or press. Sounds like something I'll have to take in to the shop if needed.

You can rent the tool to pull it free at autozone. It also has the installer. as well.
