need help with slicks

I need to get my car ready for the track by this coming weekend, but all I have are my radials. I've done alot of searching but I couldnt find a definte answer anywhere. My question is what is the absolute biggest slick I can fit under the rear of my Trans Am without rolling the lip or anything, They will be going on a set of Prostars 15x10 with 5.5 backspacing. Stock height springs. Thanks

I'd like to go with a little taller than a 26 inch tire if i can manage without bashing up the body too bad

I fit a 315/35-17 BFG Drag Radial under my Z. I know its not a "slick" but the width is similar...

Oh, I would use a 26" tire. It is closer to your stock tire height.

I can tell you from experience with the Hoosier line -up what will fit since I have the 10" 5.5 Welds but mine are draglites

In the Hoosier Quik Time Pro DOT racing slicks:
26x11.5
27x11.5
28x11.5

Hopefully I'll know by the end of the week as I'm going to try and fit the 29x11.5's I already did a little "massaging" pre-requiste to fit this tire so hopefully it'll work since I'll need it

In regular Hoosier slicks aka full drag slick 28x10 is literally the biggest. I did notice when swapping out parts I had minor rubbing on the inner fender well towards the front and my wheel lips were coming down into the slick leaving tell tale scratches around the tire from launching.

If you look at Jegs and refer to the section width for these Hoosiers slicks weather it be DOT or full slicks 11.7" section width is the max you can go before hammering gets involved.

I wish I had more info to devulge on the M/T since some guys like them, but we've all had great luck running the Hoosiers and guys running M/T's around these parts are getting few and far between nowadays.

Had to add this edit:
Should not say these are the only sizes that'll fit, these are only the tires I have personally run. I'm sure 29x? might fit as well as 30x?

thanks!! that answered my question. I ordered some hoosier 28x10.5's. If I have to hammer out the wheel wells a little..... well ok. I just didnt want to have to roll the lip after I just got the car painted.

Little late but here's a couple pics of what I'm running. Hoosier Quicktime Pro 26x11.50x15 on a 15x9.5 rim. Not sure of the backspace but there's a lot of room behind there. After going to the track, found out the tires were hitting the fender lips. I'll be going with the Weld ProStar 15x10 5.5 BS soon as I can.
