Comp. Engeneering Sub Connectors
I did a search but really didn't get a good answer to the question I have....
How much modifing is needed to make the weld in connectors work on a Camaro? The description in Jegs says that "'mods to the stock floorpan required." Iam looking at part number 247-3046

If you get those you'll be spending hard earned dough on a peice of 2x2 box tubing with a plate welded on one end. I ordered them in and then sent them back a few years ago. - I'd reccomend the Alstons. Everyone who has them loves them.

Shagwell is right. I ordered a set of these and when I got them I almost sh*t myself. They are just a set of 2x2 sqaure stock bars with plates welded on one side. There are no bends or contours, basically they don't fit without extensive floorpan modification.
You would have to pull the carpet up, mock up the subframes, mark where they hit the floor (which is the entire lenght of the subframes), cut two 2" wide slits in the floor from the trans crossmember to the LCA mounts, bolt the subframes up, and weld a .130" wall thickness subframe connector to a 18 gauge sheetmetal floor! F**K that!
Needless to say I didn't install mine. If you are feeling ambitious, I will sell you my set real cheap.

Despite all that work, it does sound like a smart way to do things. Welding it in to the floorpan the way you describe makes sense, it's just a bitch of a job.
But if you want quality, ground clearance, and not as much hassle, I personally recommend Spohn.

I had no problem at all with the Comp Eng bolt on connectors. They are a completely different animal. The fit very well and if I could suggest that you can very easily weld them in place. Mine have been on for two years and I found no need to weld them in place. I am more than happy and no mods except the small change that may be needed for the exhaust. Thats my 2cents worth.

you definetly want to go with the weld in connectors, but not the comp versions. BMR is releasing their 3rd gen connectors this summer. alstons are great but expensive compaired to others. if you want to go with a complete bulletproof chassy, go with the boxed versions. i'm currently using hotchiks frames in my camaro, but plan on installing the BMR's when they are out again. im THAT happy with their products.
