Question about Spohn SFCs

I picked up a set recently for my 89 Iroc and was looking at the instructions. On the passenger side it says that the brace crosses over the SFC on that side and they are welded together where they cross. That doesn't seem like you would get a good contact area because of the fact that they are both round and only touch in a small area. Is this correct?

The outer section of brace call for laying on TOP of the SFC- See in pic, I opted to bend and notch it so I could weld it straight into the outer SFC- while retaining enough ground clearance for the catalytic convertor.

Nice...wish I would have thought to do that. I got a lot of good contact in my weld, but not that much.

Nice job 2.8.

Awesome pics. Thanks. Not sure if I can talk the Muffler shop in to doing that though.
When I took the pieces out I assumed that the brace would cross over the SFC at the thinner part. According to your pics that is not the case. Thanks again :hail:

Well damn.... why didn't Steve think of that?? But then, he welded mine on, so I'm not worried.
